The Birth Of The #Hashtag
I bet we’ve all wondered at one point or another: where did hashtags come from? Why put a # symbol before a word, and why should I do it? The first hashtag was used in 2007, by a Twitter developer. Ten years later, hashtags exist on Twitter, Instagram and even Facebook.
Hashtags help people can discover others talking about a certain topic or event that interests them. You can add a # symbol before a word to find people who are talking about the same topic, like #GameofThrones, and join the conversation easily. It’s an awesome way to talk to people who you don’t follow and who don’t follow you.
In a previous article on Social Media Explorer, we listed several tips on how to use Twitter to promote your event. Since that article generated a lot of interest, we’ve followed up with even more recommendations to help you use Twitter to promote your event.
Pre-Event Promotional Tactics
1. Create a unique hashtag for the event series
Heavily promote the use of Twitter and your hashtag specifically on all web pages, all social media bios, printed materials, event signage, and so on.

Instagram is one of the best social networks to advertise on. It has grown to be just as big of an advertising platform as its parent company, Facebook.
As of April 2017, Instagram hit over 700 million monthly active users.
That’s more than double the monthly users who are active on Twitter.
Your best bet for Instagram success is to share stunning visuals and high-quality photos.
This approach creates opportunities for nearly every kind of company. After all, even brands in the most boring industries can post pleasing images and videos to captivate an audience.
Yesterday Instagram rolled out another great feature: Go Live With A Friend! This new feature allows you to broadcast along with someone else. This opens up a whole new world for Instagram Live Videos, and in this post I’ll give you 5 ideas on how you can use Instagram’s Live With A Friend for you brand or business.
How To Use Instagram’s Go Live With A Friend
Going Live With A Friend is simple. Open the camera on the upper left hand side of your Instagram home screen and go live like you normally would. Tap the two happy faces icon on the bottom right and tap “Add” to invite anyone who’s currently watching your Live Story. Once they join, the screen split into two and your guest will pop up right below you on the screen.

Pinterest Ads Manager is now open to all businesses who have opened an account and uploaded at least one Pin. In what is a fiercely competitive space, Pinterest is hoping that its offering can both provide something new and still deliver on the core performance metrics marketers have come to expect from Google AdWords.
This announcement comes at the end of a lengthy campaign to get the product right, with early partners including eBay, Target, and bid management platform Kenshoo. The newly released self-serve paid search platform provides the same experience these early partners have enjoyed, without the need to go through Pinterest or a third party to get started. The Ads Manager allows brands to create and optimize their promoted Pins and will also track and report on campaign performance.
As of March 2017, Facebook had 1.28 billion active users each day, and over 85% of those users were outside of the U.S. and Canada.
With such a large portion of the world using Facebook, marketers everywhere know Facebook is an ideal place to reach and engage new audiences.
You’ve probably heard these stats before. After all, Facebook is a no-brainer for marketers. And if you’re trying to reach new audiences, you probably know paying for Facebook Ads is a great way to do that.
That said, knowing a channel is effective is far different from creating an effective ads strategy for your unique brand. With more and more marketers advertising on Facebook each quarter, its harder than ever to build a strategy that will stand out from your competitors and generate the return on investment (ROI) your brand needs.
Facebook has begun testing separate feeds for posts from friends and family members of a subscriber while the other features posts from Pages.
The test covers Facebook users in six countries, namely, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Cambodia.
Confirmation About Test
Mashable reported that a Facebook spokesperson confirmed the conduct of the test to Filip Struhárik, editor and social media manager at Dennik N but did not elaborate.
According to Struhárik, Facebook removed posts from Pages in the main feed of the social network and put them in the separate Explore feed.

Your content defines your business. It also sets you apart from your competitors. In today’s age of social media engagement, it’s imperative for companies to be visible online. While publishing content is just one side of the coin, the other is placement of the content. Where, when and how you publish your content makes all the difference in the world when it comes to content marketing.
One very important aspect of content marketing is consistency. More than 60% of marketers online create at least one piece of content per day. It’s been observed that companies which engage in consistent content creation have 6x conversion rates YOY compared to companies who publish content occasionally. It’s easy to see that higher the rate of content creation, greater is the visibility.

How do you make strangers trust you enough to buy your product?
A long time ago in a century far away, a marketer named Elias St.Elmo Lewis came up with a brilliant answer. His theory was that you could turn strangers into raving customers with a “funnel”: a series of steps the customer follows, each one leading them closer to purchasing your product.
According to Lewis, people follow these four steps before they’re ready to buy.
